Advisory Services

General Information

Assessment Centers, Management Reviews and Written Promotional Examinations

The Ohio Association of Chiefs of police has over 75 years of experience working with law enforcement agencies. OACP Advisory Service consultants have conducted over 500Assessment Centers since 1985 and 24 Management Studies in the last decade. Consultants also conduct Written Promotional Examinations, either as a part of an Assessment Center or independently. Clients include: Civil Service Commissions, City and Village Managers, Mayors, Police Departments, Safety Directors, Township Trustees and University Directors.

Assessment Centers

A panel of three Advisory Services consultants conducts Assessment Centers for positions of Corporal through Chief. An Assessment Center is a standardized testing process that evaluates the ability of candidates to perform specific job-related skills and behaviors. The methodology uses exercises or scenarios that simulate the skills of the target job and is conducted by professional and experienced Advisory Services consultants. An Assessment Center provides information that predicts successful job performances.

Management Reviews

Management reviews are conducted by trained law enforcement management consultants and are customized to the needs of the client. OACP Advisory Services Consultants will lend their experience and expertise in areas, such as:

Written Promotional Examinations

The OACP offers written promotional examinations from Corporal through Chief. Clients complete a job task analysis and the International Association of Chiefs of Police then develops the examination. The OACP receives and proctors the examination and then reports the results to the client. Entry level examinations are also available. Entry-level examinations are also available.
